NYC Omega Black College Tour Day 2

Sunday, February 15, 2015 was spent traveling from Durham, NC to Nashville, Tennessee.  The distance can be done in a little more than 8 hours. Nashville, TN is also in Central Standard Time.  To break up the journey, a field trip was planned to visit the Young Men's Institute (YMI) in Asheville, NC.  Asheville is the midpoint between the two locations.

Asheville is steep in African American history.  The surrounding area was a thriving economic center for African Americans at the turn of the last century.  Asheville's rich history is captured at the Young Men's Institute in Asheville.

Our scholars received an education on this rich history and its connection to the larger NC and American community.  We then traveled to Nashville where we ate at Golden Corral.

Our scholars are in the bed (well in there rooms) with doors taped and chaperones monitoring the halls.

Please pray for us, we are scheduled to visit Fisk University, MeHarry Medical College, and Tennessee State University later today.

Nashville is expecting 3-10 inches of snow.

Stay tuned.
