The day started with Fisk University, MeHarry Medical, and Tennessee State University being closed due to the weather conditions in middle and northern Tennessee. We decided to get out of Nashville, quickly and head on to our next city, Atlanta, Ga.
The change in plans meant getting to Atlanta by 3:30pm as opposed to the 10:30pm originally scheduled. Being in a hotel with 90 of my favorite scholars that long was not the plan. The goal was to not be deterred by cancelled plans. After making several calls, Jackie, one of the chaperons, came up with the idea of visiting the MLK center. Perfect! An educational facility, kill a few hours, and make up for the school cancellations.
The MLK center in Atlanta, was the perfect remedy. The site of Dr. Martin Luther and Mrs. Coretta Scott King's memorial, Ebenzer Baptist Church, Visiting Center, and Freedom Hall, proved to be very educational, and kept the scholars engaged.
The scholars are relaxing in the hotel. Curfew is at 11pm.
Tomorrow will bring, visits to Morehouse, Spelman, and Clark Atlanta University, along with a sponsored dinner to Green Ginger.
